Imogen Tyler is a Professor of Sociology at Lancaster University and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. Imogen’s research focuses on social inequalities of poverty, class, race, gender, disability and citizenship, and draws on both current and historical research to examine how people protest and resist injustice. In 2026–27 she is CORE Professorial Fellow at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies and Vice-President (President-Elect) of the British Sociological Association, becoming BSA President in 2027.
